Time is the greatest leveler in the universe. He or she who uses time wisely wins. Unfortunately, many have no grasp of time: they’re always late, annoying the daylights out of the punctual–at best. It’s interesting that those with no conception or appreciation of time seem to get the leftover goods time and again. Yet, they never seem to make the connection. Some even refuse to wear a watch!

Digital Watches Revolutionize

March 19, 2010 by David Hamilton · Leave a Comment

Much to the consternation of traditionalists in the watch making world, the introduction of digital watches has literally changed the face of timekeeping. From the very beginning of mechanical timepiece design, clock and watch faces have featured analog movements with two hands, one showing the hour the other showing the minutes. Eventually a sweep hand was added to denote the seconds passing by.

Relaxing On A Yacht At Sea

Taking a yachting vacation means living on a seafaring ship for days or weeks. But because yachting is traditionally a luxury setting, we frequently consider yachting to be the same as living in a five star hotel that also is free to wander the high seas. March 18, 2010 by Stephen Drury · Leave a Comment

The word Invicta is Latin for invincible and the company was set up by Raphael Picard in Switzerland in 1837. They’ve been around for over a century. Both manual and automated watches were made by Invicta in outstanding designs and great refinement but offered for sale at actually inexpensive costs. In the early 70’s when the quartz revolution hit the watch market, the Invicta suffered like all of the other Swiss watches did. But the company did not die and reorganized itself in 1991 with the only point of making designer watches and making them available to the general public at low rates. It is one of the fastest growing watch firms in the world.

The Story Of Hamilton Watches

March 16, 2010 by David Hamilton · Leave a Comment

The Hamilton Watch Company was founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1892. It produced its first watch, designed by H.J. Cain, in 1893. (Now that is a very desirable vintage pocket watch for anyone to add to their antique pocket watches collection.) Also that year, Hamilton Watch Company introduced “The Broadway Limited”, a railroad pocket watch known for its reliability and used extensively by the railroads. It was so good, a version was adopted for the American Expeditionary Forces worldwide. A wristwatch version introduced around WWI where it was used as the timepiece of choice for many adventures – including being the first watch to scale Mount Everest, used by Admiral Byrd on his North and South Pole expeditions and by many other famous early 20th century adventurers.
